StartLogic Web Hosting - Short Review

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Affordable hosting: Free setup/domain, unlimited emails, PHP, mySQL, CGI, FrontPage. As low as $4.95/monthStartLogic has “the best”, if not very close to the best, offer out there. It’s backed up by a Tier 1 multihomed backbone that provides your website blazing fast connection to the internet. Their Support is literally “the new standard.” We spot checked them several times on a secret site that we have hosted there. Not only did they answer within seconds, they were so helpful in troubleshooting issues even on 3rd party software that we installed! Now that’s rare! The Price? What can we say, that is what attracted us in the first place. They offer 300 Gigs of Space (300,000 megs), unlimited emails, 3000 gigs of transfer, a free domain name, free marketing package and free setup. We cannot list everything they include at no extra charge in their ProLogic package or our review would be ten pages long. The price is only $5.95. I’m sure you could technically find a cheaper web hosting solution, however, not one that includes all the features and benefits of this plan, with 99.9% uptime and incredible technical support.

We would like to recommend that you check out StartLogic for yourself. We hope you will be just as excited about StartLogic as we were, if not, they offer a risk free 30 day money back guarantee. You would be hard pressed to go wrong.

HostNine Reseller Hosting Service Review - Okay, I’ve alreay cancelled!

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

About a week ago, after a great deal of searching and reading some forums, I decided to get a reseller account for some of my sites. After a fairly involved online chat with HostNine sales person, I decided to sign up.

HostNine Reseller Hosting Service ReviewOne of the (2) primary pre-signup issues I had was a requirement for SWISH E on the server.

For some reason, a lot of the hosting companies don’t want to use SWISH E (a very good site search tool configurable in PERL) because it needs to be installed at root to be most efficient. SWISH E is extremely stable, fast to index a site, fast to show site searches and routinely installed on shared servers by some of more mature and premium hosting companies.

Site5 web hosting service review: 3 reasons I will NEVER get to Site5 again!

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Site5 web hosting service review. 3 reasons I will NEVER get to Site5 web hosting again:

  1. The MySQL Server went down at least once a day for the last 4 months.
I ran lots of small sites on Site5, but thank God none of them were sales-based.
  2. Oversold servers caused our entire server to go down several times a week.
Even after they moved us to a different server, we had the exact same problems.
  3. Idiotic Tech Support. Don’t get me wrong, they do reply - but their techs seem to know less about computers than your favorite tech support guru from India.

VodaHost web hosting service review: don’t get fooled by the many promises!

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

VodaHost web hosting service review.VodaHost boast fanatical support 24/7/365 coverage and can’t get no one on the phone or on email. The phone system has no option to speak to anyone live. The VodaHost support ticket system takes 3 days to reply. They have a seemingly active bulletin board that they control and delete any negative threads on the spot so as the result all you read during pre-sales is happy happy joy joy. I am out 95.40 that they won’t refund (Currently disputing via paypal) Overall a very unethical company. I have sent numerous emails and can not get a human being to reply.

So don’t get fooled by the many promises that VodaHost make of service and support. Check them fully and you will see the holes in their system. Email me if you have any questions about them. I will be happy to provide details. I’m very unsatisfacted.

GoDaddy web hosting service review - after 1 year

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

GoDaddy web hosting service review - after 1 year1) Prior to transferring my site to GoDaddy a year ago, I phoned their customer support to ensure I was able to use htaccess and apache handlers with their Linux shared hosting plan. I had to be directed to 3 different people before the “tech support” understood my question fully. The guy I ended up with in the end was quite friendly and seemed to be on the same page as me, as he answered all of my questions. This has proved to be a rare occasion..

2) I use mod_rewrite extensively. About 3 months into my hosting my site mysteriously began throwing 404 errors. I didn’t recall touching a thing! So I phoned their “tech support” and explained my problem, in great detail. A half hour into the conversation, the personnel still hadn’t the slightest clue as to what I was asking. Ridiculous. So upon digging through my files MYSELF i noticed my htaccess file had been edited. By whom, who knows. I requested Godaddy inform me of the editing party’s IP, as I may have done it myself and not realized.. but would like to be sure. They told me this cannot be done without a court order. They wouldn’t even allow me to TELL THEM MY ip and compare.. they said it’s forbidden and that the server admin has strict access to that “confidential info” …

Gigenet dedicated server service review - newbie for 3 months

Friday, May 4th, 2007

Gigenet dedicated server service review - 3 monthsI have been at GigeNet for a while now and I thought I would review their service.

I started using GigeNet a couple of months back moving from a VPS at Myriad Network, Myriad was excellent but I needed a server and wanted something a little closer to my location. During my search I evaluated a number of hosts but decided on GigeNet because of their reputation for excellence. That night I talked to Ameen and decided to place an order. Later that night my server was setup and ready to go.

During the order process I had forgotten to select DirectAdmin so I submitted a ticket asking it to be installed. Five minutes later I had a response saying they would handle my request right away and thirty minutes later DirectAdmin was installed.

InternetForAll web hosting service review

Friday, May 4th, 2007

Many people have questioned InternetForAll site over the past couple years but no one has went out on a whim and tried them (or at least wrote about it). I did and have not regretted InternetForAll.

InternetForAll web hosting service review by refugeeI bought the $12 plan and have had no problems what so ever with the site (uptime, speed, etc) or the customer service.

I have worked with customer service on a number of issues, some technical others payment related. Everything worked out smoothly and I always receive timely replies. InternetForAll really worked with me trying to fix the technical issue I was having, 10X more then the host I previously paid $50 a year to (beware: yrhost.com). There were times were the situation could have went downhill and I was always waiting for some sort of problem to arise, but it never has happened and I doubt it will.

Definitely worth a try, for the price you pay and all the services you receive (excellent customer service, cpanel, fantastico, mysql, all the things that should be there) from InternetForAll - it’s a great deal. Hope this helps some people!

DownTownHost service review - 3 months

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Just a brief review of my experience with Downtownhost. I signed up 3 months ago on their shared bronze plan after roaming these forums for suggestions.

DownTownHost hosting service review - 3 monthsThe DownTownHost hosting features were more than adequate for my needs so I knew I wouldn’t run into any trouble there. They had everything I needed, including multidomain hosting and more.

Signup was very simple and straight forward. I used a promotional code and they also helped me with discounts, affiliate programs and all sorts of pre sales questions. They could’ve even moved my site for free, but I didn’t require it.

Support from day one was fantastic. I used the online chat -  DownTownHost support was very polite and helpful. Since sign up though I haven’t needed much support but when I did need it they were there to answer whatever question I had.

Uptime is perfect, at least for me. I have been monitoring my site with siteuptime and hostracker and neither have reported less than 100% in a day. This was the most surprising thing for me. I would have accepted 99% or even less, but 100% is fantastic and more than I could’ve asked for. However, uptime would have to be the thing I value most in a host and DTH have not failed me.

Speed has been adequate for me. I can’t expect a super fast download because I’m in Australia and their servers are offshore but it easily compares to most international hosts I have used.

Out of roughly 6+ hosts I have used in the past 5 or so years - DownTownHost guys would have to be the best I have used. I’ve tried to think of a few things I can fault them on but there just isn’t much at all. I’ll be sticking with them for a while if they keep this up. Nice job!

CirtexHosting service review - bad experience

Monday, April 30th, 2007

CirtexHosting service review bad experienceThe prices are amazing, cheap but quality of support you got here is low. CirtexHosting claimed that they have 24/7 support but this is not true. I have waited for more than 12 hours for a critical ticket. The next option was obviously to contact the livesupport but instead the same person who chatted with me replied the ticket and said someone will look into this. What kind of livesupport is this ? They should solve the problem. Just beware that not all the staff here speak English and you might have trouble understanding them especially via the live support.

Also, in the TOS CirtexHosting stated they will credit a full month fee if the uptime fall below 99.5, right ? Forget it, they will not do it. I have the hyperspin report (monitored every mins) and John (the admin) said that was a false report. When asked for proof, they failed to give it to me.

In conclusion, if you want a cheap host but do not worry much about reliability, uptime and good support then CirtexHosting is best for you. I am highly disappointed and i have learnt that quality hosting doesn’t come cheap.
